Why Should You Test Mineral Levels?

Minerals are the fundamental building blocks of life. Minerals are essential for virtually every metabolic reaction within the body from the breakdown of food and the production of energy, to the formation of new cells for hair, blood and other tissue, from the contraction of muscles to the electrical transmission along nerve cells. Understanding the mineral levels within your body provides a road map to your health.

Why Test Hair instead of Blood, Saliva or Urine?

Blood, urine and saliva undergo a natural filtration process within the body on a daily basis. As a result, essential mineral and nutrient levels are equivalent to a snapshot in time providing nutrient levels and metabolic data from within only a few days.

However, hair is excretory tissue produced with the body’s metabolic elimination of essential and nonessential minerals and other elements. With the average rate of hair growth, mineral hair testing detects levels from the last 3+ months providing more robust insight into nutrient levels and metabolic patterns over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take to receive the results?

A: 2-4 weeks for the results.

Q: Is it easy for a layman to read the results on ones own?

A: Yes! We provide a clear, easy to understand summary with graphs to explain results and important findings. In addition, you’ll receive the full formal report that can be shared with your health care provider.

Q: How much hair must you cut off?

A: Approximately 1 large teaspoon full. Hair should be 1-1.5 inches long and taken close to the scalp. We recommend taking it from a few areas of your head as shown in the diagram. This will help minimize any visual issues.

Q: Will this test tell me if I have low iron levels?

A: Yes! Iron is one of the elements tested. In addition, it will tell if there are any mineral imbalance between Iron and other elements such as Copper that may contribute to low iron absorption levels.

Q: Will the test diagnose issues?

Hair Mineral Analysis testing is for self-educational and informational purposes only and in no way is intended as medical counseling or medical advice concerning any medical condition, disorder or disease. None of the services, information, statements or products discussed have been evaluated by the FDA and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

1 review for Mineral Hair Analysis Test

So much finally makes sense from my test
I was surprised by these results in a good way. I saw the review about blood test results and know those are a more immediate metabolic indication within what is happening in your body within the last 48 hours. My results showed that I had elevated calcium retention (significantly high). Some indicated factors are tight muscle contractions (aka chronically tense muscles) and decreased bladder capacity. My potassium/calcium ratio was way off causing high blood pressure. Spot on there too. Plus, I’ve been trying to do the Keto diet the last 7 months and have seen minimal changes. My dietary recommendations based on my metabolic profile (slow 1) show I should be eating 5-6 small meals a day with high protein to optimize my metabolism. This all made sense. Ideal protein has been the best diet I’ve done in the last 10 years. I’m due for my 6 month recheck and I’m excited to see the changes.
